How would you feel if you were left deserted in the Amazon rainforest for years? It is so hard for us to think our life without our friends, families, and our known surroundings. There is a tribesman who has been there in the forest for more than two decades and nobody knew about him. Amazon rainforest covers 2.1 million square miles in South America. It is not only vast, but you will find vegetation too. In the 16th century, there were nine million inhabitants, but now it has reduced to a mere 250,000 natives. At present, 50 tribes are there who never had any contact with the outer world. Around mid-1990s a barbarous massacre took place near the Tanaru river wiping out a complete tribe but one member. Since then he has survived in the rainforest all alone for 22 long years. It surely proves his self-sufficiency, but his existence is being challenged everyday by miners, speculators, drug-trafficking, and ranchers. The Brazilian government organization responsible for taking care of the tribes first located this sole member of the unnamed tribe in 1996. Since then, they have been monitoring the place from a respectful distance to protect the tribesman. Technically, the tribesman should be protected by the legal enclosure, but practically it doesn’t always work out that way. In 2009, the ranchers attempted one such attack, but the last of the tribesman survived. The trick used for surviving in this dense forest from the predators is quite unique. He digs up deep holes, which can be used as animal trappings and also for hiding when attacked. Due to this reason he got a nickname called the ‘Man of the Hole’. It is believed that he hunts with bows and arrows and he also goes for fishing. The tribesman is also fond of farming and his produce includes, corn, manioc, and paw paw. Some people think that the tribesman should be left alone and his pictures should not be made public, whereas some of them are of the opinion that once he comes to know about the genuine intention of the outer world, then he would be more than happy to establish contact with the outer world. In order to ensure his safety and well-being, one official tried to make contact, but he was not welcomed, rather he got injured by the arrow of the tribesman. An author who has published a book on Amazon tribes think that they should be left alone because the place is not healthy or safe enough for outsiders. The tribesman should decide for himself and nobody should decide on behalf of him.
