Who doesn’t love the Disney World? Irrespective of the age, everybody wishes to visit the Disney World one day. What if, the dream turns into a nightmare? This is what happened with Melissa and Matt Graves. They lost their two-year-old son to an alligator in the Disney World. In 2016, Melissa went to the Orlando Disney World with her husband Matt and two children Ella and Lane. The family was enjoying the view of the man-made Seven seas Lagoon. It was just in front of the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Lane went into the 6-12 inches deep water to play while Ella was relaxing in a playpen. Nobody saw this coming. An alligator came from nowhere and pulled Lane into the waters. The two-year-old tried to put up a fight, but his strength wasn’t enough to fight back the beast. When Matt tried to help Lane, another alligator attacked him. Even though the lifeguard sprung in action, still they couldn’t pull Lane out of the alligator’s grip. After 16 hours of search underwater, Melissa received the worst news of her life that lane’s body has been found 12 yards from where he was playing. After this incident, Disney World has hung boards with the danger sign, making everyone aware of the fact that alligators and snakes roam around in the area. In 2017, Graves family said in a press conference that they are going to start a foundation in the memory of their son to help the children in need. There are children who are going through treatments at the Omaha Children’s Hospital. The Graves family wants to help them by providing the transportation and living cost. The foundation is named The Lane Thomas Foundation. Back at the Seven Seas where Lane spent his last moments, a golden lighthouse has been erected with two blue stars on it. The two stars are symbolic of his age. They had a very specific reason for selecting the Lighthouse as their emblem of the foundation. The lighthouse is the ray of hope at the time of distress or despair. The couple has welcomed their third child recently and they have named him Christian Lane Graves. They want the newborn to carry on the legacy of his elder brother. Not just that the couple knows that Lane is always looking over them as the guardian angel. This is how the Graves family supported each other through testing times and came out stronger only to help people in need.
