Isn’t it normal to get caught in slow traffic? Yes, maybe, but sometimes some unexpected things happen and you start questioning your own understanding. Professional Counselor Hailey was going to her work just like any other day. But she got stuck behind a slow-moving vehicle that had a message in the back window. Hailey is the mastermind behind the blog ‘Thought, Dots, and Tots’ and is also a mother herself. She tries to help others overcome their difficulties in life and lead a happy life. She is married to her college sweetheart and has a son with him. She is qualified enough for the job as she has a master’s degree in social work. But, she loves her job and enjoys driving to the office even when the slow traffic plays a spoilsport. That very day, while driving, the message read ‘Learning stick sorry for any delay’. Any new learner will experience the embarrassing situation where they are trying to cope with the pace of the traffic but failing to keep up with the fast moving cars. In a quest to do that, they slow down the entire traffic. However, that’s not the point, the point that Hailey was wondering is if the message wasn’t there, then would Hailey be so patient with the whole situation. She went on to reveal that sometimes people are rude towards other just because they aren’t aware of the difficulties that others are going through. Human beings are not cars or signboards that they will wear their feelings on their shirts saying that they are going through a divorce or they have been diagnosed with cancer. She thought if we could look closely at people and see signs of sufferings, then we could treat them differently and more politely. She concluded in her blog that whether one comes across as someone who is in pain or not we should always be compassionate and kind to others irrespective of whether they deserve it or not. Her story was read and shared by many. Her four-paragraph post garnered 8,400 comments, 193,000 reactions, and 210,000 shares. Not just shares and likes, some readers went on to share their tricks to stay calm when you are following a slow-moving vehicle. One of the readers suggested that in order to calm down while following a slow driver, one should imagine that the driver is driving with a goldfish. If he increases speed then the water might slosh out making it difficult for the goldfish to survive.
