What will you do if you have to walk 6-long-miles every day to work? I don’t think it’s too hard to say you’d want to quit that job- unless you really needed the money; in which case you’d pull through. For Jaylesya Corbett, she did just that. For her 5:00 a.m. shift, she would start her journey at 3’o clock in the morning irrespective of how the weather was outside. Even if it was raining or snowing heavily, she would hit the road without fail to reach her destination from her home in Western Rocky Mount to Bojangles’ in Nashville where she works. Sergeant Scott Bass was on his usual rounds when he noticed Corbett. He stopped her and asked her whether he can drop her somewhere because it was raining cats and dogs that day. She accepted his offer and only once she hopped on to the car and started talking, did Sergeant Bass realize that this is her daily routine. Upon hearing her story, Sergeant Bass requested his colleagues to look out for Corbett and offer her lift so that she doesn’t have to commute the whole way on her feet. Her work also requires her to stand the whole day, so she is on her feet the whole day and this is her regular routine. Sgt Nash was genuinely concerned, so he started looking for options to help her out. He thought that if he could arrange for a bike, then her journey would be much smoother. Nashville Walmart was happy to assist him in his endeavor to help Corbett and donated a $150 bike. When Sergeant Bass went to hand over the bike to Corbett, she didn’t know how to react in the first place. After realizing what Sergeant Bass did for her, she was overwhelmed with the kind gesture. This is not the only incident where the cops have come up to help a person in need. There was another incident where some cops from California came together to sponsor a boy’s bike who used to walk long miles to his work. The boy in question, Jourdan Duncan, was actually saving money for college, as he wanted to join the highway patrol. When the cop came to know about the reason behind Duncan’s long walk to work, they were impressed because they thought not many youngsters go to such an extent to fulfill their dreams. The only difference between the two stories is the reason behind why they chose to walk to work. Duncan started walking to work when his car broke down and Corbett was looking for work after quitting her job when Nashville offered her employment.
